How To Find Your Purpose in Life in 2021
“Life is not just worth living. It is worth living fully.” – Michelle Maldonado.
Michelle Maldonado is a certified emotional intelligence and mindful leadership expert. She describes purpose as our fuel in life that propels us forward and gives us the energy to find focus and creates feelings of being heard, seen, and valued. These are traits that we all desire as human beings. Michelle talks about how we often lose our purpose in midlife, but there are many ways that we can find it again.
Regardless of age, we need purpose to stay motivated and to feel like we make a difference. In mid-life, we experience big life transitions that are often painful such as the loss of a loved one or the end of a career. The first thing that we have to do is to embrace our emotions. There may be a moment when we will ask ourselves, “What next?” It is in these moments that you need to ask yourself, “How do I want to live? How do I want to bring happiness into my life? How do I want to elevate my quality of life?” There is no one responsible for these answers other than yourself. These questions will help you re-discover your purpose.
When we feel a sense of purpose, our bodies release all kinds of endorphins. Our cells hold memories – trauma and emotions including joy and pain. When we feel a sense of purpose, we enter our sweet spot and we will feel differently. Finding your sense of purpose will naturally bring self care and self compassion.
If you are in a place of, “What do I do now?,” it is ok because this place is part of the journey of re-finding your purpose. You just don’t want to stay in this part of the process too long. You deserve to find joy again. In the interview linked above, Michelle walks through how you can think, process, and feel as you co-create our answer to, “What next?”
“We don’t want to just survive. We want to thrive.” – Michelle Maldonado.
